I wrote this poem in anticipation for a shamanic plant medicine ceremony that I participated in, in January 2019.
I wanted to share it here because it seemed to have resonated with so many.
“Darkness. Rebirth.
It’s Innana’s meat hook moment.
The daughter of Father water and Mother moon. The sister of the sun god.
Goddess. Lover.
Sexual. Different. Fertile. Independent. Free. Courageous.
Woman.
She enters the underworld from heaven in the hopes of saving her sister.
The savior and the victim. The illusion that she can save anyone from a creation of their own mind. Something or someone that they don’t want to be saved from.
She is brought face to face with this illusion as only a goddess can…
Stripped of everything she’s ever known to feel, to be, to believe. Her identity.
Left empty, battered, bleeding, and on the oblivion of death.
No one is exempt.
Not even the goddess. No illusion left intact.
Rebirth Year 0. The beginning.
It is through DEATH, the DARK, the WOMB, the NOTHINGNESS that Innana can be re-born once again.
Starting over. Unafraid of letting go.
Ready to face her new fate. The purpose that she was created for. Another chance at life. Another chance to do, be, create better.
A deeper connection with self. With energy. With the unshakable hand that hold us up even when we fall down.
We learn to flow. We learn to listen. We learn to observe. We learn to be. And from that state miracles, magick, and beautiful manifestations are the only possible outcomes.”
